Class Descriptions

Classes are taught in the Iyengar tradition which emphasizes alignment, while developing strength, stamina, flexibility and balance. Various props are employed to enable students at all levels to achieve immediate benefit. Bring bare feet and an empty stomach and be prepared to discuss any personal concerns or limitations with the instructor.

 
BEGINNER LEVEL CLASS
for New and Continuing Beginners

At this level students are introduced to the basic yoga postures, with an emphasis on alignment and balance. The level at which one proceeds depends upon ones’ overall fitness and determination to improve his or her health. It is suggested that a new student attend beginning level classes for at least three months before attempting mixed level classes.
Beginner Level Class is scheduled:

MIXED LEVEL CLASSES
for Continuing Beginners and Advanced Beginners

These classes are all held in my private studio so there are fewer than eight students per class. This allows the curriculum to be structured to best suit the group. All the standing and seated postures are taught and emphasized; inversions and backbends are introduced and practiced regularly. Each student receives individual attention.

ADVANCED LEVEL CLASS
for Advanced Students with Instructor's permission

This class time has been reserved for students who have developed a solid working knowledge of all the basic asanas and who desire a greater understanding of all the complexities that a serious yoga practice entails. It is requested that students have the permission of the instructor to attend this class.
 
Advanced Level Class is scheduled:
WEDNESDAY 6:00 - 7:30PM   Advanced Level Yoga LOCATION:   Studio

 
ONE-ON-ONE THERAPEUTIC YOGA SESSIONS
Private and Semi-Private sessions

Designed for individuals with specific conditions. These may include recent illnesses or surgery, emotional stress, expectant motherhood, or a simple desire to develop a home practice. Sessions are scheduled in advance, by appointment, and small groups can be accommodated.
 

 
Practicing yoga is the perfect preparation for pregnancy and childbirth. Selected yoga asanas emphasize relaxation, concentration and awareness of the connection between the body and the mind.  The postures are taught in a manner that enables you to practice at home and will help to manage the discomforts of fatigue, low back pain, nausea and indigestion, swelling and leg cramps.
